Bonnie Johnson Fogleman, 87, of Liberty died on Saturday, March 28, 2015 at Universal Healthcare in Ramseur after struggling bravely with health issues for several years.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 30, at 2:00 p.m. with David Hobson officiating at Rocky River Friends Meeting, 1795 Staley-Snow Camp Road, Siler City; burial will follow in the Meeting cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 5 until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Bonnie Johnson Fogleman, 87, of Liberty died on Saturday, March 28, 2015 at Universal Healthcare in Ramseur after struggling bravely with health issues for several years.

Bonnie was born on January 2, 1928 to Spurgeon McKinley Johnson and Corda Coble Johnson in Liberty, NC where she resided the remainder of her life. She graduated from Liberty High School, the nursing program at St. Leo's Hospital in Greensboro and business school at Asheboro Commercial College in Asheboro.

Bonnie married Thomas Hugh "Tommy" Fogleman in 1946. They celebrated their 68th Anniversary in 2014. She was a loyal supportive partner to Tommy and loving, caring, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, daughter, sister and friend.

She was a life-long Quaker and a member of Liberty Friends Meeting for most of her life and Rocky River Friends Meeting in later years. When able, she served faithfully on many Meeting committees, shared her beautiful soprano voice with the choir and taught Sunday School for many years.

One of Bonnie's passions was the care of small animals, particularly cats and dogs and she was an active member of the Liberty Humane Society for many years. She was also a member of various service organizations in the Liberty area.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, Daphna Simmons and Patty Medding, Frances Opal Johnson; two brothers, B.Q. "Buster" Johnson and Everett McKinley Johnson.

Surviving is her cherished husband, Tommy Fogleman; one son, Thomas Johnson Fogleman (Deborah); one sister, Bobbie Johnson Brower; three grandchildren, Jason Fogleman (Dawn), Katie Peddycord (Gerry), Josh Fogleman (Jocelyn); eight great-grandchildren, Cy, Maddy, Joe, Sam, James, Vada, Luke, and Ty. The family gives special thanks to the loyal and dedicated caregivers and other special family friends who helped care for Bonnie.
